naturata morphi

ARTIST STATEMENT

Naturata Morphi explores my own mortality and its transient nature, transforming what is often perceived as negative into a source of contemplation and inspiration. Drawing on the 17th-century vanitas genre, natura morta, I create images of overripe and decaying food to symbolise constant transformation and impermanence. Through a delicate interplay of colours and textures, I illustrate how decay can simultaneously reveal beauty and offer insight into the human experience. The purpose is for each element in the image to evoke an experience of the passage of time and insight into the fragility of life, crafting a vivid profile of my existence intertwined with nature’s cycles.

Humans desire to capture fleeting moments and hold onto memories that might otherwise fade. The photographic medium reveals itself as a powerful conduit for exploring the complex cycles of life and death. This ability to freeze time has become an essential part of my artistic expression, enabling me to convey the intricate and often conflicting emotions that arise when confronted with the transient nature of life.
