The Village Pantry / Seoska Smočnica
ARTIST STATEMENT
This series examines the kitchen and pantry as the social nucleus of the home—spaces where the ritual of sustenance gives way to moments of profound connection.
Inspired by the heritage of Vela Luka on the island of Korčula, I documented a range of domestic artefacts, from humble utensils to the monumental wine vats known as damižane. Many of these objects have remained within local families for over a century, evolving into vessels of collective memory. They serve as a tangible dialogue with the past, capturing the enduring essence of a specific time, place, and community.

Ova serija istražuje kuhinju i smočnicu kao socijalnu jezgru doma — prostore u kojima rituali svakodnevice prerastaju u trenutke duboke povezanosti.
Inspirirana baštinom Vele Luke na otoku Korčuli, dokumentirala sam niz predmeta materijalne kulture, od jednostavnog pribora do monumentalnih vinskih posuda poznatih kao damižane. Mnogi od ovih artefakata nalaze se u posjedu lokalnih obitelji duže od stoljeća, razvijajući se u nositelje kolektivnog sjećanja. Oni služe kao opipljiv dijalog s prošlošću, hvatajući postojanu bit specifičnog vremena, mjesta i zajednice.
