The Village Pantry
ARTIST STATEMENT
This series explores the heart of a home: the pantry and kitchen. In these spaces, beyond merely cooking and eating, we discover moments of connection and communication.
Inspired by my time in Vela Luka, a small town on the Croatian island of Korčula, I was granted the unique opportunity to photograph a variety of kitchen items—from simple utensils to large wine vats, commonly known as de mégane. Many of these objects have been passed down through local families for over a century.
These artefacts each tell a story of a vibrant culture and community that has shaped a way of life over generations. They serve as a tangible link to the past, capturing the essence of a particular time and place.
