ARTIST STATEMENT
Korćula's Olive Harvest is a fine art series that uses a lyrical visual language to explore the enduring tradition of olive farming on Korčula Island. By integrating environmental portraiture, landscape, and still life, the work captures the deep connection between this ancient practice and the local community, highlighting the unique cultural and topographical landscape of the Adriatic coastline. The deliberate use of black and white photography bridges the present-day harvest with a timeless heritage, using the dramatic interplay of light and shadow to evoke a sense of enduring ritual and generational bonds.
The series combines candid observation with intentional direction, transcending mere documentation to create a richer aesthetic and perceptual experience. Rooted in my own personal ties to the region, this body of work hints at a deeper human longing for connection, belonging, and a link to our collective past.
