In the final year of her PhD candidature in Psychology, Tina Tudoric-Ghemo, a South African-born, Croatian-based fine art photographer, changed her path in life to explore her interest in self-expression through fine art photography. Tina's love for the visual and deep insight into human needs fuels her desire to create images that offer a unique experience of the natural world.

Tina has travelled to Russia to capture the salmon run, wild bears and landscapes, and the 'Ring of Fire' volcanoes. She also had the privilege of travelling to the Svalbard archipelago region in the Arctic to capture the polar bears, walruses, arctic foxes, reindeer, and other wildlife.  Tina's various trips to Iceland gave her the opportunity to capture its green landscapes, volcanic black beaches, diamond ice beaches and its icy glaciers. She has also spent time photographing the landscapes and wildlife of regions in Southern Africa such as South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.

In her Fine Art self-portraiture landscape series, A Familiar Place, Tina explores the concepts of identity, self-expression and her experience of her inner landscape. She frequently places herself in the landscape using her body as a feature of the environment to create a distinctive narrative. In her statement about the purpose of her projects, she explains that ultimately, it is a way of “processing her own sense of self and belonging”.  On a broader level, Tina's images challenge contemporary ideas around identity, place and the human condition. Her signature style and perspective on the world make her work different and unique, supporting her personal philosophy and values. Her interests also extend to still-life photography, alternative photographic processes and mixed media.

Tina spends much of her time travelling and photographing Croatia's beautiful landscapes while further articulating her creative vision. She is also in the process of completing her MFA in Photography at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
