Portrait of Trainsience
ARTIST STATEMENT
Portrait of Transience is a series of fine-art still-life photographs documenting fruits and vegetables at various stages of decay. This body of work initiates a philosophical examination of the intrinsic relationship between human fragility and the relentless passage of time. The series is driven by a confrontation with finitude—the unavoidable understanding that physical decline is inevitable, thereby challenging the deeply ingrained human illusion of permanence.
The aesthetic core of the project lies in the act of finding something subjectively beautiful amidst the context of physiological deterioration. This visual paradox embodies our complex, vulnerable connection to the continuous cycles of life, death, and renewal. The captured decay serves as a powerful metaphor, suggesting that decline is not merely an ending but an essential phase in a harmonious natural order.
Presented as a visceral, tactile, and visually immersive encounter, the work is designed to move the viewer beyond mere observation. The images guide them toward an introspective and emotionally resonant recognition of their own transience. Ultimately, Portrait of Transience acts as a contemporary meditation on the universal philosophy of change, compelling a profound reorientation of one's outlook on existence.
