Organic Abstraction
ARTIST STATEMENT
Organic Abstraction examines the hidden beauty in the stages of the cycle of life through a macro lens, revealing the complex world of decay—a process often overlooked or deemed unappealing.
While the images are rooted in familiar objects—a wilting cabbage leaf or a shrivelled mushroom—I am not interested in capturing them in their perceived state of ripeness. Rather, I focus on their change process and how their surfaces transform into new textures and colours. The photographs function as a bridge between the identifiable and the abstract, inviting the viewer to see the familiar in an unfamiliar way.
As such, by highlighting the microbial and fungal growths that sculpt these new forms, I present the process of decay not as an end in itself, but as a period of profound and unexpected creation. Organic Abstraction is an invitation to discover beauty in organic evolution and to appreciate the artistry of nature's ultimate expression.
