reframing memories
ARTIST STATEMENT
reframing memories explores the idea that colour is symbolic and represents various concepts and emotions and the interplay of colours and movement and how these elements influence individual experiences and perceptions. Images also serve as representations of social and psychological spaces, challenging the nature of both physical and metaphorical boundaries while reflecting on contemporary life, technology, and the structures of modern society.

While transferring a collection of images to my external hard drive, I inadvertently unplugged the cable from its port. At that moment, I watched in dismay as numerous photos became corrupted, their original forms distorted. To my surprise, however, this mishap also created an entirely new set of visuals emerging from the corrupted data as if they were borne from the chaos itself. Presenting as an abstract and pixelated interpretation of my reality, vivid colours and unexpected shapes redefined the essence of what I had captured.
This series showcases the resultant artwork - a striking array of unique aesthetics and vibrant imagery, with each piece offering a visual testament to the transformative power of images. It also draws attention to the fragility of our memories, personal histories and the moments we cherish in the digital age. Through this visual lens, viewers are invited to reflect on the broader implications of technology in our lives, raising questions about how images influence our identities, shape our sense of personal autonomy, and alter our understanding of reality.
